Rod Hart

With over 10 year’s experience in the financial services industry Rod specialises in ‘people risk insurance’. Working with clients to identify the risks they face in their business and personal lives Rod helps them to develop a survival strategy to combat the financial impact of ill health or a death on a key member of the business or a family member.

Rod is both a Director, and a principle Risk adviser of Backbone NZ Ltd, and of Hart Financial Services Ltd. Rod has clients based all around New Zealand. Rod spent significant time growing up on a Taranaki Dairy Farm and as such has both experience and a real affinity for working with our farmer clients.  In fact if Rod had not enjoyed his 22 years as an Officer in the NZ Army as much as he did he would probably be farming himself!

Rod has spent significant time and money upskilling himself on a continuing basis and is always learning about new products and trends in the industry.  Rod believes in the adage that change is the only constant and this flows through to his belief in regular reviews of risk to identify current risk, not historic risk.

Rod holds a NZ Certificate in Financial Services and has completed a number of University level papers in business and financial services related subjects. He is a member of the Financial Advisers Association (NZFAA), past member of the Institute of Financial Advisers and member of several Adviser Groups.

Rod is married to Moira and has two grown up children living in Auckland. Rod is passionate about the outdoors and loves fishing and hunting, a prime reason for his move North to Wanganui to take advantage of the rural outlook and lifestyle.
